These Southern stingrays are ultra friendly, ideal for photo opportunities. They hang about in shallow water so there is relatively good vis. Some rays have an ingeniously designed eye which gives them depth perception using only one eye (as Dean Grubbs explained in one of his lectures) - ideal if your eyes are right on either side of your head! Later on we went seeking eagle rays - not quite as easy to see but ceratinly more graceful.
